Due to retirement, our client needed to replace their Head of Property Development. The role involved leading a team of five Development Managers, two Project Managers and a Construction Director.
As part of the process, they had two internal candidates who wanted to apply for the role. Summit included these internal candidates in the Executive Search process, interviewing them directly alongside the external candidates.
One of the internal candidates formed part of the five-strong short list and, following a successful interview and presentation, was deemed the best candidate for the role. The client was therefore able to appoint them knowing that they had ‘benchmarked’ this candidate against the external market (through an extensive Search process) and they were still the most suitable candidate for the job.
Summit were also able to provide constructive feedback on the internal candidate regarding areas of strength/weakness, to help with the ‘on-boarding’ process once they had been promoted.
